Ruffwear Harness Whippet
Ruffwear Harness Whippet

Ruffwear harness is best for active dogs and their owners.

This harness was built to help maneuver dogs over obstacles and working pets.

So, if you love hiking and getting out in nature, this is the best harness for you and your whipWhippete Ruffwear. Harness whippet is a supportive, secure, multi-use harness with a robust back handle.

This safe hardness is remarkable for “Houdini Dogs” as it makes it almost impossible to get them backstrap past the ribs. It is entirely adjustable and is long on the body, making it virtually impossible for your pet to get out when worn snugly and rightly.

This design also gives support and security for tripod or 3-legged dogs.

Durable, thick foam offers support without hindering the range of motion. Five points of adjustments make a secure fit, while padded chest and belly straps make the harness relax for all-day wear.

The Ruffwear is a great collar alternative and perfect for scrambling, hiking, and mobility assistance.

Whippet Dog Harness Buyer’s Guide

Material

Many dog harnesses are pretty similar and generally have three areas of materials; the straps, the hardware, and the vest portion.

The hardware is either metal or plastic. The straps are generally made of nylon or polyester.

The vest is durable and weatherproof, including nylon with neoprene or mesh padding. In the case of the strap harness, there is no vest.

Types

There are different types of harnesses on the market, ones produced of nylon, with and without vests or padding, no pull ones, tactical ones, decorative ones, etc.

Sizing

Every dog has a pet harness, no matter its shape or size. Each harness comes in different sizes.

What is Front Range dog hardness?

Front Range hardness has two clips for attaching a dog lead. The critical clip at the back, made from an anodized aluminum V-ring is used for general walking. Link standard information and take your WhipWhippet for a walk.

The second clip is a webbing loop placed at the lower chest area at the front. This is made to turn the hardness into no-pull or can be used for training. Using a twin-ended lead like a HALTI, both ends of the leader are linked to the two clips.

The Ruffwear hardness whippet also has a padded handle at the top designed for gripping your whipWhippetplace and helping lift when trekking.

The harness straps have five critical adjustments, making them an excellent harness for a Whippet frame. The undersides of the belt are padded for improved comfort. The hardness also has reflective trims to view your dogs while walking in dark situations perfectly.

This is a great hardship whippedipWhippet not just covers the aspects of training and decreasing pulling on the lead – it is also well made to stop any Houdini escapes when out and about.

Why should my dog wear a harness over a collar?

If your pet is a puller or an escape artist, or if you are lifting or training your dog, your pet should probably wear a harness. When pets pull on an available collar, they tend to choke themselves.

All that force on their trachea can destroy it and cause breathing issues. Harnesses are much safer and more relaxed for pull pets, as they distribute power across a more extensive, less sensitive area (the chest).

How to measure Ruffwear harness whippet?

There are no standard dimensions for pet harnesses; a medium-sized pet from one firm could be considered an extra-large at another.

Before you can pick the correct harness for your dog, you will need to take a few measurements.

Chest

Using a soft tape measure, calculate the most significant part o your pet’s chest. Starting at the base of their rib cage, bring the tape up and over their back, and then back down where you start.

Weight

Your dog’s weight can help you plan which harness will be powerful enough for them to wear. With another dog harness, a dog that is twenty pounds over its weight restriction could break them when lunging or pulling after a squirrel.

Neck

You will need to know your pet’s neck size for some types of hardness. To get this number, wrap your tape measure around the thick part of your pet’s neck.

How should a dog harness fit?

There are many dog harnesses, and each kind of harness will have a different fit and style. In general, a dog harness should fit snugly but not too tight.

It should be fit enough that your dog cannot back out of it, and the ring should sit higher on its chest. Just like with a collar, you should be capable of fitting two fingers between the harness and your pet.

Signs your Ruffwear dog harness is not fitting right

Your dog’s harness is not working right if:

  • They are chafing in the armpits or around the harness
  • They can wiggle or step out of it
  • They are losing hair/fur around the harness area
  • The chest strap loosens on your walk
  • The back piece rotates to the side

If your pet is resistant to walking or putting up a fight when it is time to put on their harness, it might be because the saddle does not fit perfectly.

Why a right fit matters

Not only can a bad-fitting Ruffwear harness cause your dog discomfort and pose a safety problem for pets who can wiggle out and break free, but it can also cause medical issues.

If your pet’s harness is too tight/little, it can limit their natural movements. Their stride gets thrown out of whack, and they begin using their muscles badly, causing unnecessary worry in their bones and joints.

Should I pick plastic or metal buckles?

Plastic buckles are simple to fasten – best if you are parenting a pet who is just a walker and enjoys light exercise.

For those dogs on the more dynamic side or buying a harness for car travel, metal buckles are more robust and would not pinch.

Should I go with a step-in or over-head harness?

Shaped like a figure 8, step-in harnesses are simple to put on but less safe if not fitted rightly.

Over-head harness slide over your pet’s head to be secured around their back and tend to have extra padding and more adjustment choices. This means they are simple to put on older or wriggly dogs.

Important note

Australian law requires dogs to be secured with a Ruffwear harness when traveling in a vehicle.

Several harnesses can be clipped onto the seat belts for security and safety and by the law.
